Te Kotuku Ki Te Rangi
Te Kōtuku Ki Te Rangi Charitable Trust (“Te Kōtuku”) is a kaupapa Māori mental health provider based in Avondale, Auckland.
Te Kōtuku provide residential support, respite rehabilitation and community based services to Māori and non-Māori under a kaupapa Māori framework and philosophy.
Te Kōtuku has been involved in Māori mental health since the 1980s following the de-institutionalisation of mental health services. Te Kōtuku provide the following:
- Hinepiripiri and Marangatahi Residential Services: Hinepiripiri is a Level 3 residential home for wāhine and Marangatahi is Level 4 home for tāne. Both facilities are specialist residential rehabilitation where Te Kōtuku provides intensive support 24/7 for Tāngata Whaiora who would otherwise be in long-term acute mental health services.
- Ngā Parirau: A mobile team of culturally competent CSWs delivering a wide range of self-management support in the community to empower Tāngata Whaiora to set goals, build confidence and skills and achieve wellness as they see it.
- Programmes: community based Mātauranga Māori programmes such as Mauri Tau, Hākinakina, kapa haka, noho marae, rongoā and other activities both delivered in the community setting and through digital platforms.
- Planned Adult Respite: A recovery oriented service aimed at reducing stress levels and improving individual functioning in a stable safe environment. Referral is from Waitematā Crisis Team.
- Social Housing: 1 and 2 bedroom rental units specifically for Tāngata Whaiora when vacancies are available.
